English with Suzie

Speaking Course on WhatsApp

No time for fixed lessons online? No problem!

📱📱📱

Take a speaking course that you can access on your phone, anytime, anywhere and practise your speaking in a fun, real way.

In the course:

  •  You will receive two speaking tasks every week that you can answer any time according to your availability
  • Your answers will be recorded in the group chat in the form of voice messages
  •  At the end of the week, I will share feedback on grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation in the group (check the examples below)
  • You will use your English in a practical way, including it into your everyday life

The WhatsApp group:

  • You will be part of a small group of motivated, like minded learners (4-6 people)
  • Aims at bringing together people from different nationalities for you to hear different accents and engage with learners from various countries
  • The group will provide you with a safe environment where you can become confident with your speaking
  • You will get to share about yourself, your culture, and things that interest you
  • As a group, you will suggest what topics you want to talk about. The course is tailored for each group individually and is never the same

Examples of speaking tasks

Examples of feedback

Example of grammar feedback

I listen to all voice messages carefully and write down any grammatically incorrect sentences together with the suggested corrections or options for saying the same better. No names are attached but everybody can learn from each other’s mistakes. This gives the compound benefit of learning not only from your own mistakes but also from the mistakes of the other learners in the group.

Example of vocabulary and pronunciation feedback

I pick up on words that are mispronounced in the voice messages and at the end of the week, I send a list together with their recorded pronunciation.

I also make sure to highlight all the cool vocabulary my students use so that nobody misses out on it and I suggest some more topic-related vocabulary that could be of interest.

😨 Worried about recording voice messages in English? 😨

I completely understand! I have felt the same about leaving voice messages in WhatsApp in Spanish for ages and many times I still do. It is work in progress!

Check out to what some of the course’s participants said when we were discussing this topic in the group:

When I first started with this course, I didn't feel confident. So I would record my response to each task in another app and listened to myself first, correcting and re-recording if I didn't like it. Later, I realised this was not a good way of doing it so I decided to be more spontaneous. I took some notes on ideas I had and vocabulary I needed, and recorded the messages directly in WhatsApp.
I know Suzie always has nice people in her courses. I know that all my contributions will be received positively and without judgement. So I don't have fear to share my thoughts and my English even with the mistakes I make. I really enjoy listening to everybody's messages and appreciate hearing so many accents and this makes me confident to share in the group as well.

I feel welcome in this group. We are all learning English and this group is a safe place to be, including learning through making mistakes.
